BOOK REVIEW

A young girl in a bright, polka-dot dress invites readers to spend a day with her in the Philippines. Readers meet her lola (grandmother), tatay (father), and other cheerful members of her family. On display are vehicles, enjoyable food, and a good night scene at the end of a busy day. This board book has vivid illustrations packed with color and personality. Most of the artwork is presented in bold spreads. The accompanying text is simple and direct. Each page has anywhere from one to four Tagalog words with a pronunciation key. Back matter further defines the words if the context clues are not clear to readers. Reviewed by Chance Lee Joyner , Aug 09, 2024
